Sorry this page is kinda blah...reminds me of the first days of Guts N Glory! Ahhh, bringing back that good ol' feeling.
Super soaker has made 3 known versions of the 1200. The first was the yellow 1200 in 2000, this model being more powerful. Then, in 2001, switched to a silver/purple scheme while retaining the same power. This model was in production for a limited time, though, and super soaker replaced it with a new 1200 that looked exactly the same, but it had less power. I think that is how it went...it is rare that they swtich from a less powerful gun to a more powerful one, but this gives you an idea of the different versions of the gun:
#1. 2000, yellow, more powerful
#2.- 2001, silver, more powerful
#3.-2001, silver, less powerful
Unfortunately, the #2 CPS-1200 has been a rare find, so if you find one, hang onto it.
The secret is in the triggers of the two guns. The top one is from a silver gun that is less powerful. The bottom one, without paint, is the trigger that came with the more powerful 1200.
Now, you can take your gun apart and know for sure, or you can go by a simpler methed.
The thickness of the very front of the triggers, as where the pencil is pointing, is different. If you get a ruler, you can meausure this.
Results:
Over 4 mm: possibly more powerful version
Inside 4 mm: possibly less powerful version
I say possbily cause there could be exeptions out there, but from my experience, this is the rule.
Another tip is how the pump feels:
If it is super easy to draw out, and hard to push back in, but all the while remaining totally smooth, it is probably the more powerful version. The more powerful version most likely has the black rubber ended pump
The pump that feels like it may have more friction, and less difference between out and in pump is probably the less powerful version. This one probably has the cheaper clear rubber end of the pump.
